Becca Perfect Skin Mineral Powder Foundation in Sand, $40/.33oz @ Sephora,  beccacosmetics.com, dermstore.com

I've really been excited to try this, especially since it's a product that RAEview has mentioned many times in her videos!! You can always use another amazing powder, right?!!

The Becca Perfect Skin Mineral Powder Foundation comes housed in this protective, zip up case with a thin sponge. I really appreciate having a cover to protect from scratches. I also love that the compact isn't overly huge and cumbersome with some unnecessary compartment to house the sponge that always seems like a waste of space!!

The compact itself is sleek and modern, with a slight tough girl edge!! Inside you'll find a mirror...and again no wasted space w/ a sponge compartment because it'll fit right on top of the product.

The color I picked up is Sand. It's a tad darker than I would like, but the next color down was definitely too light. I think a combo of the 2 colors would be perfect for me, which sadly with powder foundations often seems to be the case. But this isn't so dark that it looks unbearably off, and I think if get a bit of color during the Summer it might be perfect.

I'm not too crazy about this as a foundation, nor as a stand alone powder. I had really high hopes for this one!! Darn.

I tried 2 different brushes to apply this as a foundation: Tom Ford Bronzing Brush and Sephora Classic Mineral Brush #45. The Sephora Classic Mineral Brush #45 seemed to make the product look and feel heavy - larger pores on the sides of my nose were emphasized. The Tom Ford Bronzing Brush was better, but it still looked heavier on my cheeks than I would've liked...you could actually tell I was wearing foundation rather than just guessing/assuming I was.

And as a foundation, this barely covered minimal redness and oddly enough it made my oily areas a bit more oily. My normal to dry areas felt fine. And something or a combination of somethings irritated my skin and gave me small bumps. This is supposed to have buildable coverage, but I found the more I applied the worse it looked! This is also supposed to feel silky, but I don't think it felt silky at all and rather felt like any other powder you could find anywhere.

I wasn't very happy with the finish either. The Sephora site describes the finish as "soft, luminous" but I found it mostly flat. On my cheeks it actually looked very matte. On my oily areas it looked slightly luminous, but I think that's mainly due to me being oily versus the product making my skin look luminous.

Used as a powder to set foundation, I had all the same problems but worse and more intensified. It looked really heavy/cakey on my cheeks, made pores on the sides of my nose look especially big, made my oily areas even more oily and the finish was terrible - matte, flat and just yucky looking. I don't mind a matte finish, but it needs to have some sort of dimension to it - this does not.

When used as a powder on minimal/no makeup days - with the intent to only take away shine from moisturizer - I had the best luck with the Sephora Pro Powder Brush #50. This brush had the lightest application. The finish was natural, but that's about it. It still made me a bit more oily and no luminosity.

Maybe you'll have more luck with this, but I definitely will not be repurchasing. In case you are curious, here's the full description from the Sephora site:

Pure mineral pigments are pressed into this silky powder to deliver buildable coverage that feels light, looks fresh all day, and leaves skin with a soft, luminous finish. This water-resistant formula, enriched with antioxidant vitamins A, B, C, and E for antiaging benefits, lasts all day.
